Stonehenge Ivy Hag Spirit (HGS71)
This natural and earthy Hag Spirit figure was created from a piece of ivy which was gathered with respect and care from the land surrounding Stonehenge in southern Britain. The piece contains a hole within it, reminiscent of a hagstone. Within mythology, hags are powerful and complex female figures.
The figure is incredibly tactile, so feels good to hold during meditation or for ritual use. She carries a protective root and herb bundle which includes wormwood, and enchanter's nightshade. Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb.
The roots of Solomon's seal, yarrow and St. John's wort are added to the bundle. Yarrow brings its strong associations with clairvoyance and powers to promote divination, and St. John's Wort is traditionally used to repel negative energies. Mugwort brings its history of being used to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection.
A simple deer antler bead and an antler tip have been added, along with a hare's ear, bringing the hare's associations with luck and fertility.
Like many of the animal and bird parts that we use, the hare's ear was respectfully gathered during our countless woodland ambles. Covering many miles of countryside, and over many years, we sometimes discover the natural death within the life of land. It feels fitting to occasionally respectfully gather them, and to then celebrate the life of the animals and birds by using them to adorn these figures.
Raven feathers complete the figure, which is filled with our protective herb blend, including herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge. The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of mistletoe.
A bindrune for ancestral connection has been added to the base.
